Fort Worth pest control

We Texas's top experts in rodent control. We are not a typical Fort Worth rat removal or pest control company. We don't treat rats or mice like insects, because they are not - they are mammals! You can't just use poison to get rid of them, like you can with insects. Unlike most Fort Worth pest control, we focus on complete and permanent solutions. We don't just use poison every month. We solve your rodent problem forever, by following these steps:

  • Inspect the entire house, ground to roof, and the attic
  • Seal shut all entry areas, no matter how small, with steel
  • Set a dozen or more rat or mouse traps in the house and attic
  • Remove all rodents as they are caught and monitor for activity
  • Once there is no more activity and no more caught, we're done
  • When necessary, we clean rodent droppings, replace insulation, and repair chewed electric wires

Fort Worth Rodent Removal Tip:

What are the different sounds rats make when they are in your home?
A good way to tell if there is a rat (or indeed, a family of rats) living in your home is listening for strange noises, especially during the night (since rats tend to be more active at night time). In this article, we'll not only look at the different sounds rats might make when inside the house, but also at the reason they make these noises.

So, what sounds should you expect?
The most common places where you might hear strange rat noises are the attic and the basement. Since these areas of the house are generally less populated than any of the other rooms, rats (as well as other wild intruders) tend to hide out in here, because there's less chance of discovery. Attics and basements are also a big rat favorite because these spaces are often used for storage, and thus allow for ample hiding space.

The most common noise to hear if there's a rat living in your home is the sound of scratching, clawing, or gnawing. Rats are quite well-known chewers, and while most aren't strong enough to chew through a wall, they're apt to chew through your wires and wooden structures. Beware of this noise, because rat damage can endanger the entire property, as well as your family's safety.

rodent trapping Another quite common noise that you should be wary of is scuttling, particularly up in the attic (since any floor noise is easier to hear from above, rather than below). Rats tend to move around quite fast, so if you hear quick scuttling noises in your attic, it's apt to be a rodent (squirrels are also often responsible for such noises).

Yet another noise you should be on the lookout for is a light squeaking or chirping noise, which rats sometimes use to communicate with one another. However, this is less likely to be heard, since most of the rat communication is either done through the release of various pheromones, or through ultrasounds which the human ear cannot hear anyway.

When are you most likely to hear these noises?
Rats tend to be nocturnal animals, and so, it's quite unlikely that you'll hear any of the above noises during the day, even if you are at home, or even inside or near the attic. This is because rats tend to be sleeping during this time. Even if a rat is awake during the day and scuttling about or gnawing at a wire, you are less likely to hear it because days tend to be noisier than nights.

However, if you hear scuttling at night, it's a good indicator you should go up there and check for some obvious signs of the rat population, such as small droppings.

So what do you do if you suspect there's a rat in your attic (or basement)?
If you feel capable and if you don't get grossed out easily, you may well attempt to go out there and capture the rat yourself. For this task, we recommend opting for a humane removal method, such as a live trap, as opposed to using rat poison or snap traps. If you do end up placing a live trap to catch the rat, we suggest checking on it frequently, as it is cruel to leave the poor creature trapped without food or water for hours on end. Once you've caught the rat, relocate it to a safe place where it won't be able to bother you, and thoroughly clean the room you found it in.

Alternatively, you can call a rat removal expert (though again, we urge you to look for one who uses humane trapping practices).
